Mayura is inspired by the sacred presence peacocks have held in Indian and Sri Lankan culture for centuries.
This painting celebrates the regal grace and divinity of this beautiful bird - and how the play of light inspires awe and reverence.
The peacock uses the play of light as it refracts through crystals on his feathers to create that glorious, unforgettable shimmer. Similarly, the movement of light through stained glass has been used by christian traditions as a visual language to convey divinity and inspire reverence.
Mayura is the ancient sanskrit word for peacock.
