Hares are most commonly sighted in the spring and they have become a symbol for the season.
I began working on this painting in February. I could feel spring approaching and the decision to paint this mamma hare came so easily. For me she represents that wonderful time of year where life is being created and the earth is waking up.
I intuitively included hexagons in this piece. They are found repeatedly across nature and seem to be a key part of her creative process.
This painting is a tribute to the hares of Norfolk and to nature and her divine, creative abundance. I have named it Brigid - after the Celtic goddess of spring.
