About the artist

Based on the North Norfolk coast, Geraldine Platten makes art rooted in reverence for the natural world.

A British contemporary artist of Sri Lankan heritage, she grew up surrounded by the sacred imagery of multiple faiths — an early visual education that continues to shape every piece she creates.

Before painting full time, she spent over 25 years working on some of the world's most pressing issues: humanitarian crises, climate change, and inequality.

That sense of purpose - to make the world a better place for all life on the planet - is still present in her work. It is in the symbolism, and the pull between what ancient cultures knew about our interconnectedness and what the modern world has chosen to forget.
